Mustafa Akyol joins me to discuss Muslim history and tradition. We explore Jesus Christ from a Christian and Muslim perspective, the Virgin Mary's role in the Quran, separation of church and state as an ideology, the dangers of literalism when facing religious texts, and more.pic.twitter.com/JZQtykf0aT

Please next time find someone reliable to talk about Islam. Mustafa Akyol is already propogating a modernist approach to Islam which indeed accommodates many logical gaps. You should hear Islam from a traditionalist source. Take

Re. Totalitarianism & religion
@SamHarrisOrg failure mode is the inability to distinguish pattern from context. Homodoxy degrades to orthodoxy, orthodoxy degrades to ideology and dogma. That applies to any human domain from religion to science.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

So all these late apocryphal Christian teachings that we know are not historical end up in the Quran and the choice is to say well that's obvious they would end up in the Quran since that's what's these fringe groups believed or do we say...bah coincidence it was all God's work

Funny enough the Qur'An actually corrects the OT in a historical sense, where it called the emperor at the time of Joseph the Pharaoh, although at that time there was no Pharaoh, only later at the time of Moses.
