Abandon Ideology? So...that's conservatism, liberalism, socialism, marxism, keynesian economics etc? We abandon all those things that have shaped and continue to shape who we are, our political/economic systems? Are you serious? Replace them with what? A void perhaps?

It’s free thinking. You can be any of the above & still be a free thinker. It’s when you loose the ability to think freely & become part of a collective devoid of free thinking where is where it becomes dangerous. It’s called brainwashing. Brainwashing needs ideology to work.

@jordanbpeterson work and his thinking processes in general, but I'm hoping that when I read Beyond Order there is a sufficient explanation of the maxim to abandon ideology. -

For Althusser this would mean dropping out of school, not going to church, avoiding politics, forgetting your family, quitting work and so on. These are the ideological state apparatuses. Go be Zarathustra I suppose and spend 10 years in a cave all alone.
