Is this like how a brand has the ability to Traverse Generations while being economically viable, but a family line throughout Generations does not hold the same effect? Or am I posing question wrong. Idk?

Family lines do traverse generations. But the cause seems to be the inheritance of genetic ability, rather than the benefits of growing up in high-SES, which are apparently marginal.

So, simply throwing more money at the problem will not have a meaningful impact. This gels with what we see today, very little benefit for the trillions spent over the last several decades.

How is this profound? All it’s saying is mothers’ “ability” impacts child test scores more than socio-economic factors? But i would bet a mom’s “ability” is largely dependent on whether she has to work 2 jobs or she has time for her kids’s school needs

This study samples people from 65 years ago, as NLSY79 groups, listed as being sampled in the study, were born between 1957 and 1964. Not applicable to now in the slightest, and even if it were, does it not track that mothers with the time to teach their kids lead to smarter kids

Why are SES and mother's ability separate variables? Doesn't SES usually = income + parents' education (ability) + parents' occupation? (sadly can't access full article to see their operationalization of variables)

Download scihub on your computer to see full article. SES is correlated with parental ability but not the same. Parental ability is genetic
