I think of it more like radical self acceptance of the human condition and self forgiveness of the past so that one feels worthy enough to make attempts towards self betterment in the present

If that IS what it was, I think a lot more of us could get behind it. But I've literally gotten responses to my posts about being overweight and trying to better myself that call me fatphobic and toxic. They aren't setting the groundwork for self-improvement: they oppose it.
