The Catholic view of suffering as redemptive is what people need. Suffering has meaning and purpose and, if embraced when it comes, cultivates virtue. Our Blessed Lord Jesus is the model par excellence of this.

I understand Peterson dislikes those who emphasize power relations. However, anyone who isn't a capitalist must focus on power relations because they have NO CAPITAL.

Jesus left a clue in his carpentry — humanist (or devine) meaning is derived not from endless self-examination, but in practical and beautiful works outside of the self—how man touches the existing universe, though the senses not ideology.

@jordanbpeterson i really need a serious answer to this: How do you avoid becoming corrupted, if your search for meaning is actively thwarted by people inflicting unnecessary suffering on you, as punishment for risking deviation from THEIR chosen meanings? -
Most people in the GenX and younger cohorts have been deliberately tortured and traumatized - and I dont use those words lightly - to create learned helplessness around their own search for meaning.

From my experience, you have this the wrong way around. You can't find meaning by acting in a certain way, such as acting within 'traditional structures', you have to find the meaning first, which will then motivate you act in service to that meaning.
