As someone with academic potential (PhD near completion, publications, etc), I have *zero* desire to enter current mainstream academia. Every time I took steps in that direction, it felt like trying to hang out with the "cool kids" in high school: *worryingly* soul-numbing.

Not fabulous, but not quite as dire. There are some academics working against ideology (I don’t necessarily agree with their opinions) but they are rallying hard against ‘woke’ culture. Example: Dr Kathleen Stock
