The question is: how will society determine who succeeds? The answer will determine who succeeds. This sounds painfully obvious, but we seem to miss it. If violence is a viable route to success, we will be ruled by violent men (and they will, in the end, be men).

Society does not determine who succeeds, it is only one factor in that equation. It is obvious that society influences success sure, but that depends on the society and the degree to which the term "success" is applicable. Big leap to think rulers are correlated with success.

If you use force to achieve "equality", that inevitably results in discrimination (ie: Asian applicants at Harvard, facing it in the admissions process).
