The more you address the underlying emotion the better you are managing it. E.g if you're feeling nervous during a conversation just spell it out say that you are nervous and immediately the feeling goes away

I have health anxiety and terrible fear of serious illness. But I had cancer, and I have had 5 surgeries in my life of one sort or another. I was statistically very very unlikely to need 4/5 of them. I can't find ANY strategy to get the better of it.
