Why wouldn't they? It's been glorified by BLM and has gone largely unpunished. They bought into the oppessed/oppressor ideology and they are expressing that as expected. This is part of the divisive nature of this ideology. Soon the government will have to "save" us as designed.

The debate around statues has an actual meaning in the US. In the mid-60s, racists in the US South threw-up a bunch of cheap Confederate statues to show they were still in control. There is an actual debate there. The fact that it's spread to other countries is hilarious.
