It's an issue on many levels. Educators in my country have faced losing their job, their reputation and sometimes even their lives (heart attacks due to pressure) over unsubstantiated claims. Allegations should be dealt with swiftly and in a just manner for all involved.

I feel like you are smart enough to understand WHY these shifts came to be.. whether it be a shift for good or bad, as a person who studies human activity i find it odd you seem to never acknowledge the grave damage that created this situation.

In what way does damage become better through bad solutions? Society now more than ever understands the ability of defendants to wriggle out of justice in actual cases- the possibility of a deceptive wriggler is not grounds for eroding presumption of innocence..

My College (Buffalo State) literally says in their pre orientation guidelines that the way they deal with accusations of any sort isn't innocent until proven guilty. And they put it as a quiz question to make sure you know explicitly that that's how they deal with problems.
