It seems to me very stupid, or even mentally ill to act as if god exists, if you don't really believe there are metaphysical truths. Like acting like karma is real, but not really believing in it.

Believeing in some kind of overlapping sense of common good. The higher values, that everyone as should feel in their gut and strive for. I somehow like to define that as God. The Christian kind of God, I suppose. So in a sense, I'm a believer too.

Why is having religious morality (as whatever you're defining it to be) a good thing? If you can answer that without invoking God, then why is atheism incompatible with it?
