While I think the direct, harsh confrontation is important against those ideas (that I deeply reject as well), i think in the long run it might be a better idea to try to get in touch with them, in a more "forgiving" way if you will.

I was so touched by this amazing woman and the atrocities that she endured. She also expressed how attending Columbia was "madness," I found this so disheartening. Our institutions are some of the most protected in our society, it's time they are humbled.
