It's hard to imagine the kind of pressures that are imposed on a pregnant woman/girl who lacks adequate, dependable support from others. It probably does have some negative effects on a fetus.

I'm curious, could one take from that message that if untreated mental health problems are likely to slowly spread through the population? Is this a major or minor factor in the rising number of people with mental health issues?

I quickly came to this conclusion when I started on my path to individuation last year. If you don't solve your sh*t, your kids will inherit them and you may very well condemn them to years of psychological anguish or worse.

I can imagine this to be very true. So many intergenerational trauma being passed along. Seen it too many times with characters I've encountered through life.

Solid. I work as an occupational therapist with children who have major emotional problems, combined with problems with executive function. It is often that the parents have the same problems. Help the mother, help the child.
