When kids see other ppl undermine their own parents it makes perfect sense for them to rebel. Imo, a lot of it comes from TV and video games and movies, but moreso from this "village" that tends to be as meddlesome as supportive. Kids need 2 learn respect, not obedience. Adults 2

Why would we want to reduce their physical aggression? Don’t we want them to exemplify that they are willing to punch so they can compete and win in this dominance hierarchy?

Only if one has to play only a single game. But, life is a set of games. Better to be a good sport, win or lose, than someone who never gets invited again because of acting like an utter ass.
