Is that a Vitamin A joke bc it was pretty clear at the time what the cost of delay would be. Indeed, the fear was that Golden Rice would serve as a PR tool for more GMOs.

I dont know enough to have an opinion on GMO, but the point of caution is that you don't fully know the consequences. In this case people might have been crying wolf when it was not there, but what if it was there?would we have more deaths? Why put all your money on a risky bet?

GMO isn't that risky when you know what you're doing and are doing it for the right reasons. Example: Golden Rice Then you have blatent corporate exploitation with no regard for human health. Example: Mass farmed GMOs that can handle HUGE quantities of pesticides.

I'd reconsider this position. Golden Rice is a means to have a patent on rice and is promoting itself as a humanitarian commodity. ...growing foods containing Vitamin A would've been far, far cheaper and made communities self-sufficient.
