I learned so much about world history reading this book last year.
That's because anyone can make a proclamation. It doesn't mean it's true. But in today's society people will believe anything that fits their narrative. Confirmation Bias confirmed.
Jordan Peterson commenting on a Thomas Sowell tweet is like Michael Jordan dunking after a perfect LeBron James set up. Or like Cristiano Ronaldo scoring after Lio Messi passed him the ball.
Much easier to proclaim than implement. Utopia is always better on paper.
It’s always a certain section of the political spectrum, they always use emotional reasoning and it always smacks of ‘ressentiment’.
Scale changes a lot. Having a say at local level would make people value differently and change incentives. People would care more and solve some of the problems we face. Think Scruton’s concept of oikophilia, and Ostrom’s solution to Tragedy of the Commons. More Localism.

Problem that many radical economic programmes such as socialism can sometimes work well in a small commune but by their nature will not scale. Fortunately/unfortunately there are plenty of large scale trials provided by history, and it's time to consign these ideas to the bin.
