Absolutely great advice, my favourite part about both books are the short stories which go with each rule. The most unfortunate thing about "forgetting happiness and seeking long-term goals" is they can be cancelled on a whim in these days. Best long-term goal, good health.

If pursuing the goals puts the brain in a state of feeling positive about life, then wouldn't that mean happiness is an illusion caused by chemicals in our brains?&if so, why isn't the goal to create a drug that makes us feel good w/o side effects instead of chasing achievements?

the never ending growth of life seems to be a fundamental law of nature. Maybe until some point of global enlightenment but I wouldn't hold my breath for that.
