So how does someone with OCD deal with exposures in a pandemic? It’s a struggle. (Someone with OCD) - Faye

Voluntarily choosing to accept and face a situation you didn't choose can have the same effect, at least in my experience.
-
its not voluntary if you dont have an option.

Thanks for the clarification! I must be a weird individual though because the things I used to worry about are no longer present due to the situation we’re in.

Interesting, this sort of goes against the idea that trigger warnings are silly right? I tend to agree that they are and you have said you are against them as well. What are your thoughts on this? (They allow people to be voluntarily exposed vs involuntarily)
-
Trigger warnings are just showing courtesy. It’s like warning someone beforehand that the images you are about to see or what’s about to be said are graphic/NSFW. There’s really not that much to them.

Blew my anxiety up, had to start therapy because it was horribly effecting my sleep.

I recall your lecture on conscientiousness from your 2017 Personality course. Parasite Stress Hypothesis has played out globally. As Gad Saad said: postmodernism is a mind-virus. It engineers the same totalitarianism as a pandemic. Race riots and COVID aren't a coincidental pair.

So what is the desensitized effect I’ve been seeing? It seems like we’re at a point where each new “breaking news story” has less of a reaction. It’s as if we’ve accepted a chaotic phase, and prior to 2020, it would be have been a huge deal. Are people just repressing more?
