I listened to the audiobook a while back and had a hard time grasping a lot of it. Going to listen to it again sometime this year but is there any other reading that might be orthogonally helpful to understanding the material?

I am listening to it now. It is not an easy book indeed. It does help a bit if you have watched his online lectures so you know broadly the concepts and ideas discussed in the book.
