Yeah The Atlantic is a pretty terrible publication. Most of their content speaks to a very dystopic view of society & presents no real solutions to the alleged problems, of which meritocracy is not one. The only reason these academics rail against it is because Trump supports it.

This is a sign of weakness. What I mean by that is backbone in the face of adversity and trying to explain that maybe we can get rid of the weak feeling rather than use and harness it for making us stronger than 1 minute ago and so forth
