Tony could have said no. He does at first. He could have lived a life with his family. But he gave his life so billions could live again. Sometimes sacrifices are needed. That was the Avengers mistake in IW, being too limited by not trading lives.

Trading lives implies that 1 life is less valuable than a whole bunch of lives. You can't play numbers with lives. You may as well send people to gulag and call it breaking eggs to make omelettes

One item that bothered us when we brought our
#teenagers to#Avengers Infinity was the wide acceptance that destroying half of the world and its heroes was very acceptable and fair. Sacrificing many lives is a millennium old idea that is demonic and#evil, not good and equitable -
What are you talking about? The only character in avengers endgame Who was in favor of destroying half the population was Thanos, the guy who did it. Every other character fought with their lives to prevent and or remedy that situation. Did you even watch the movie?

For an authoritative Orthodox take on human sacrifice that is also sound historically -- unlike the cartoon version pushed by Pageau, Peterson and Jung -- I'd suggest consulting an actual Orthodox theologian such as David Bentley Hart.https://youtu.be/HWaiJmjbGEQ
