Schoenberg's the guy that destroyed music forever. There's NEVER been a great composer since the early 1900s. Where's the modern Bach or Mozart? They don't exist.

Andreyev does see that the motivating idea in AS’ “evolution” is a philosophical one, not a musical one. It was a devotion to systemization, not the playing out of inexorable inner musical forces, that led him to do what he did. It was not inevitable (see Shostakovich, Britten)
