Very little education left. Doctrination and political motivations have forced their way in. The chances of removing such a bureaucracy when it's had this much time to take root is improbable, if not impossible. It's going to take a complete restructuring of education I'm afraid.

State universities in California suffer from administrative bloat. To counteract it, they withhold tenured positions to people like me. This also has the nice effect of silencing a large portion of the (not illiberal) faculty. It's a win-win for them, and a loss for everyone else
