As mentioned in other replies, its the purification of REMs that is hard and environmentally toxic. Most of this has been outsourced to China. There are great amount of REM in NA, but the processing centres/mines have been shut down. It'll take many many years to reopen.

Amazing
Canada could be world-renowned in natural resource production/exportation; funding the development of our rural territories and provinces, lowering unemployment, incentivizing connectivity/networking northward, lowering the cost of materials for developing countries.. -
We're nowhere near our potential. And to combine all this with increasing efficiency, technological innovation ... We need better leaders.
