He saved so many lives. It's a shame Rachel Carson & the EPA's work in support of the continued existence of malaria has led to so many unnecessary deaths in the intervening years since 1972.
This is false and has been refuted in the scientific literature dozens of times. DDT's use as an indoor spray to prevent Malaria was never banned and the ban of mass use as a crop insecticide had no major effect on preventing Malaria.
A discovery and an application of same are two entirely different things. It is unknowable how many human lives were saved by the use of DDT. What is known is that in many cases there are highly effective alternatives to the use of any given agent, DDT being NO exception.
Not sure if you mean the reported "billions of lives saved" (pure, unsubstantiated conjecture) or best practices - which are not a new invention.
