I was a hockey coach for 9 years. I hated how the kids have become dependent on the adults to "set the rules." I would give them the occasional practice to figure things out themselves, and they loved it.

Looking back, I think I spent half my childhood up a tree or up a drainpipe. I don't know how useful the climbing skills ever were, but at least I learned to look at things from alternative viewpoints.

I can’t believe how free I was as a kid. I was a girl in the late 80s, early 90s and I rode my bike from dawn to dusk. My friends and I trespassed everywhere, explored on old mining properties, climbing on rusted cranes, seems unthinkable today.
