A valiant effort. It would be great if we stemmed the flow of the plastic in at the same time, I mean now.

Amazing. He literally lives by the phrase of, 'lift yourself up by your bootstraps.' An inspiration, as well as yourself professor

Each boom traps 150,000 lbs of plastic per year and costs $20M. The Yangtze alone ferries 735,000,000 pounds per year. It would take ~4,900 booms just to clean up the Yangtze trash.

Fine and dandy to tidy up what you can. Unfortunately, Asia and 3rd World is tossing in the bulk of the garbage. That should be the real focus instead of feel good measures that have little to no impact. Oh, you realize the cost will be enormous for this venture?

What a great project. I’m very thankful for people like this taking action because all it seems like anyone wants to do is argue about projects like these and although this will not be the full solution, it is a step in the right direction and definetly a step towards progress.
