this is my favorite book but it should be pointed out,the book was written in both russian and french, and the english translations I've seen translate everything to english and reader doesn't even know if it was originally russian or french, IMO this way the book loses something

I read in in polish + french, with french parts being translated to polish at the bottom of each page, I think the book is much much better this way

The left... I feel the nature of these attacks shed into light a' right extreme' that has been on the rise in the shear amount of hate it shows. It seems to me that as blade sharpens blade, so has the radical nature of political spectrums strengthened each other

Yes, it does get monotonous at times. Especially when Tolstoi abruptly interrupts the story to tell us his opinion. His comments are sometimes obvious, sometimes barely convincing. As far as I'm concerned, all these "interventions" he makes are totally unnecessary
