You might explain it, but you can't make me like it.

I can listen to Mr. Andreyev's atonal explanation of the term, but I can't watch him. His hyper blinking is, for lack of a better term, abnormal and very distracting.

Accurate & interesting, perhaps overawing to those with little experience w/ music theory. Overall misleading to most hearers

Tonal music would not exist without the unity of the Gregorian notation some 1,400 years ago. A new adjective could most certainly be "Boulezian," following Pierre Boulez's statement in 1971 where "all the art of the past must be destroyed."

Actually, no, since the music I am discussing predates Boulez by at least 40 years. And the earliest known western music notation dates from about the 9th century.

Grunge was atonal? I don't think so. It was certainly largely talentless in terms of the guitarists (with some exceptions... Jerry Cantrell, for instance), but it wasn't atonal.

Atonality explained in 1 hour :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=301zDQOiicI … Brilliant work of @JeromeDucros especially on the positive definition of the common characteristics of the different types of atonal styles. A must watch.
