Orwell predicted this as one of the constraints of Newspeak. Big words allow nuance versus simpler counterparts and nuance allows individual thought. That guy should cheer up--he's just a shock-collar away from living out a beloved novel!

I'm still trying to figure out if problems like this are a product of an absurd world view the students actually hold or if it's just lazy students trying anything they can think of to avoid having to do too much hard work.

Today I had a conversation with some higher ed execs and discussed my displeasure with the lack of diversity with the LSU faculty. These people stated that conservatives are afraid to voice their conservatism opinions and basically remain silent. Diversity is non existent at LSU
