Apologies..... as an American I am not familiar with the Canadian system and where its courts/Supreme Court lay in the structure as far as powers. Can someone brief me on the issue at hand? Is she calling for the Supreme Court to be superior to Parliament? Thx

Gender is a relatively new concept. You mean the immutability of a person's sex?

We here in Israel are suffering immensely from judicial activism for the past 25 years. The backlash has put the court in a defensive mood, and now I understand that the Israeli
justices are recruiting Canadian
justices to help out.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Good lord, it seems we've jumped back 2000 years to the time of Praetors and Pontifexes. Ruling from on high through the shroud of divinity and self proclaimed religiosity. Ripe soil for "caesars" to flourish and spread.

What the hell are you talking about? Canada has a powerful executive branch on the federal level and powerful provinces. It is in no way analogous to theocracies from the past.

Don't kid yourself, Courts in every country and every age have always been activists. Same as parliament/congress/what you call it other countries are also activists. You don't go into law or politics because you are impartial.

I would never want to face a Canadian court. I’ve had the unpleasant experience of doing so: the judges got their law degrees out of a Cracker Jack box, from what I could tell.

Criminals don't usually like courts. Only losers end up in court over civil matters. Admin matters reflect increasing interference of govt in our lives. Family matters - not sure. Dunno if the state should interfere in family matters.
