One prestigious institution gave us study consent & revoked it & gave it again (for a total of 5 approvals/revocations-- this AFTER WE HAD ALREADY FINISHED THE STUDY (during one approval period) and wanted to do data analysis). I'm bipolar and feel strongly the number one thing we have in common is major sleep problems that precipitate massive mood fluctuations. Also dysphoric mania and mixed states delay diagnosis in many as Psych has a bias toward traditional Type 1. New surveys need to address this.

IRB is a huge limitation on academic freedom. I have a hard time getting my anonymous surveys with absolutely no sensitive information through. I can't imagine trying to work in an area with sensitive information.

Maybe after you get the grant you should return it and ask that they give it to a candidate less devisive? Like you suggested for Kavanagh? Or is this just a thought experiment that I misunderstood because it's on Twitter?
