they could always jjust appoint people randomly regardless of abilty.... that should help to provide a diverse membership if that's their priority rather than quality

Every scientific conference I've been to for 20+ years has been the epitome of diversity. There are also more women on my faculty than men, and the grad students for 5 years have been almost exclusively women and/or minorities. What on earth are these people going on about...

As a brown person I find this very frustrating. Why should I be hired or appointed based off the color of my skin rather than the content of my character or my talent/intellect? I don’t need a “pity” job or position. Sigh.
