What I would say though is USA reporting on rape and murder is probably significantly more comprehensive than in SA.

So we (USA) have 7 times the per capita gun ownership vs SA, but SA has 5-8 times the intentional homicide, murder, and rapes per capita. It’s almost as if they’re inversely correlated. Hmmmm.

Well, I'm all for gun rights here in US, but these two data points are not enough to determine broader correlation, let alone causation. I think it is likely the murder rate there would be much higher regardless of our gun ownership rates.
