What makes United States hurricane landfalls more “robust” of a measurement than something like hurricane formations?

there's guess-work for cyclones out in the middle of the ocean which never receive direct measurement by hurricane hunter aircraft. If a tropical cyclone crosses land, somewhere along its way it will have been measured for lowest central press. and windspeed - fewer unknowns.
