Judges have always made the law. The idea that they just 'interpret' is absurd. The law says whatever they say it does. Whatever they say depends on their political ideology.

Judges by making a judgement on a case can change law for every preceding case in that category. Landmark cases change laws.

Judges are supposed to either uphold laws or strike down laws. They are not supposed to rewrite or reinterpret laws. Landmark cases do not "change" laws. They either reinforce them or strike them down, fully or in part.
