As you anecdotally noted on your recent appearance on Rogan's podcast, diet can have a big impact. It doesn't solve it all but it can reduce the amount of antidepressants prescribed. There's something to be said for the Aristotleian notion of 'Healthy body, healthy mind'.

Diet and exercise. Demanding, strenuous exercise. Lifting weights has helped me out of dark depressions in the past.

Well, bipolar disorder and psychotic depression are different beasts and respond to different treatment regimens. Including people with treatment-resistant depression is essentially guaranteed failure no matter what. It skews the data.

Most of the time antidepressents are prescribed with people who are undeniably depressed, but not clinically. While MDD might not be treatable without medication, I'd like to see more widespread adoption of CBT. When I was younger my only options were psychotherapy or drugs.

I currently take both duloxetine and trazodone. If I understand the report correctly, neither one rates high in efficacy. Am I mistaken?

In head-to-head studies, agomelatine, amitriptyline, escitalopram, mirtazapine, paroxetine, venlafaxine, and vortioxetine were more effective than other antidepressants, whereas fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, reboxetine, and trazodone were the least efficacious drugs

I have a hunch that the amount of lives greatly improved exceeds the amount of lives ruined. I have been greatly helped by at least a couple of meds
