Race blind admissions ... that sounds so progressive, a move towards meritocracy is always a move forward.

Not as long as the color of your skin and your gender still affects your opportunity to achieve merit, as well as how the merits you achieve will be judged. “Meritocracy” is only fair in a world without systemic inequality, racism and sexism - and we are far from there.
