Youre misunderstanding jerrod. Tribalism (ie racism but not limited to) is a darwinian fact about human evolution. We see this in chimps. His contention is that even though its true that this in our nature....its also dangerous and we must transcend it.

Is it merely a meaningless tautology when you say “true in the truest sense”, or are you appealing to another, perhaps more conventially aligned definition of “truer”—in accordance with its adherence to accuracy—when you employ it? Either way there’s a problem here.

From the Sam Harris podcast Peterson was trying to change the word 'true' to mean that which had the utility of aiding your survival. It became clear that changing the meaning of an existing word was confusing and a pointless exercise.
