Religion needs to be rescued from its current state (which it gets rightly criticized for) and the valuable parts need to be preserved. It both shouldn’t be accepted with all its flaws nor burned to the ground.

What is the religious mindset? Do you mean spirituality? We can't just wish away spirituality. The failure of many people to distinguish between religion and spirituality suggests to me that they have never experienced it.
