Owning a fridge isn’t an example of absolute anything. Absolute wealth means, compare average wealth across time, rather than comparing what you have today to what your neighbor has today, which is relative wealth. In absolute terms everyone is way better off in modern times.

Poverty is relative to the technology. Even the poorest in the U.S. enjoy a life far more comfortable than the wealthy of even 200 years ago. Indoor plumbing, AC, clean water, transportation etc. I think about this often.
