Indeed. It is part of Maxism/Communism/postmodernism (choose your -ism) that the family unit needs to be destroyed in order for total state power to reign. When thinking about it, the intact family reduces dependence upon the state. That is why the family must be destroyed.

I think it's more reflective of the culture of older generations that allowed men to have all of the fun of the cultural liberation but none of the responsibilities/consequences. Made for some bad fathers, which gets turned into media when those kids grow up.
