What does it change though? I can't see a single MP reneging on their public commitments to support the deal no matter what comes to light about how shit it is. They haven't changed over three years, why would it change now?

It's not that though. It's that the deal will pass eventually, before a GE or Ref. By MPs who mistakenly fall for (or knowingly abuse) the claim that this will get Brexit done. When simply another cliff edge awaits, begging for extension of the status quo.

Yes, or at least that's the well-founded fear. It's possible that the Letwin ammendment might give pro deal MPs a chance to reconsider, if eg they get to see impact assessments, but I think it's more likely this deal will now pass at some point.
