Seriously, can *any* Brexiter justify to me giving a £14m contract to run ferries to: - a company that has no ferries - company has never run ferries - cannot run them into Ramsgate before its dredged (timetable unknown) - cannot get themselves any ferries that used to run there?

You might be interested in this - seems they have been the object of some local interest for a while. I particularly like the bit about them all paying themselves 82k each on receiving the contract https://www.facebook.com/groups/963579693754088/permalink/1793824397396276/ …

Yes I read that earlier. I don't know the local context well enough to know how much of that can be trusted!

Meanwhile, Ireland actually launched its UK-bypass ferry 8 months ago, the world’s largest short sea roll-on roll-off vessel:https://www.irishtimes.com/news/ireland/irish-news/brexit-busting-ferry-launched-from-dublin-port-1.3468760 …

No way in the world you're going to get that thing into the narrow Ramsgate harbour!

They can widen the harbour- compulsory purchase and an emergency contract will cover it😈

Actually my two year old granddaughter has a very nice bucket and spade and she has already approached the government to get the dredging contract. So back off.

Wouldn't have been more economical and tax-efficient it she'd leased a bucket and spade from a sand relocation contractor?

Perhaps she could set up sand relocation & bucket & spade hire companies in, say, Dublin. Then she can bid for the harbour widening contract, hire her equipment, claim the tax back & bid for EU contracts in future🤔

Starting point has to be a FOI for the Terms under which the contract was granted.

What does this have to do with brexit? Or are we to just label and blame all our wrongs o n this one title? It's all a bit year 2000 bug if you ask me. A lot of damage done by UK press scaring people.

I don’t know whether the owners of Seaborne Freight are qualified or otherwise but all I’ll say is this: A bigger, outwardly more ‘qualified’ company is not always better. In fact, I’d go as far to say they are RARELY better. Sounds stupid, but it’s the truth.

Small, ok. Small but with no record of having run ships, and Ramsgate not dredged... I’m far from sure.

I’m definitely not sure. But who are the people that work for the company and what are their skills and experience. I don’t know 🤷🏽‍♂️
