I imagine if you’re a doctor, one of the harder things must be having to tell a patient you can’t explain their symptoms (or don’t know much about their diagnosis, if they have one.) But as a patient, I’ve always dreaded the opposite: the doc with unwarranted confidence.

People w/ FND are often seen for our problems, or "what's wrong" with us. What if we flip that? What are you good at, or what do you bring to the world? Feel free to brag shamelessly. (But it doesn't have to be a big thing. Just something positive about you.)

‘One of the main ones I use is a way of focusing your mind and calming down; what you do is name 5 things you can see, 4 things you can hear, 3 things you can touch, 2 things you can smell and 1 thing you can taste.’ Great tip, for managing panic attacks, Kaitlyn

Welcome to Twitter, FNDS. Does the FNDS logo represent 1) a network of brain regions, 2) a new grouping of multidisciplinary health professionals crossing traditional boundaries, 3) a bunch of balloons or 4) all of the above ? You decide!

There are multiple reasons why people may develop FND. These are unique to the individual. In some cases trying to find a cause fails to assist in the recovery process. Minimising exposure to known triggers and risk factors may be helpful in managing symptoms.

Referral from neurology to psychiatry for dissociative/FND seizures can be a difficult process for all. Neurologists often think they can tell who will attend. New paper (n=698) shows we can't - leave your prejudices at the door!
