I think the control would be countries like Sweden, Taiwan, Japan, Brazil that didn't do a lockdown. We can see what happened there and compare with countries that did.

If NY opens up and gets a flood of cases, it would be pretty obvious whether the lockdown worked or not.

NYC at this point should just be shooting for herd immunity. They're already a fifth of the way there with probably another fifth built in.

That started a while ago in the early lockdown states on west coast, has led to a lot of complacency and bad behavior (and cases are ticking up, tests still nearly impossible to get in oregon)
