Between this and Noam Chomsky opposing the Syria withdrawal... 🤪 In this wacky timeline, if tomorrow Dianne Feinstein sponsored a bill to buy every child an AR-15 I’d probably just fav and not even RT.

Here is the head of Harvard Med School splaining how Big Pharma are model corporate citizens being unfairly maligned. No wonder people want to burn it all down.

Anyway, this is yet another example of the rule that everything that can be weaponized in the culture war, will be weaponized. (Probably up to and including actual weapons, eventually.)

So everyone has now discovered that swearing in objects can be used for trolling. Right on. When I'm elected to congress in 2024 I'm going to make VP swear me in on a Chick tract, strictly for the lulz. Maybe this classic:

It's all fun and games until she has to vote on an issue you have strong feelings about. This is the eternal problem with Dem rockstar politics. The bloom comes off the rose real quick.

Re: AOC, I've seen this movie before. Once she actually gets into congress & has to vote on actual legislation, the current social media-driven honeymoon period will give way to the ideological purity-driven circular firing squad period. It can't not happen.

Insane. It's never been done before. It cannot be done. Like the Panda, reporters can only live and reproduce in a handful of specific coastal habitats.

Update on these dogs. Good news and bad. Good news: thanks to a community FB group we located an owner, some guy in a trailer. Bad news: jerk doesn't want them and says to "haul them off." Moron. Those are GREAT dogs. They love kids, don't bark or complain or dig, friendly.

Abusing platforms' mod tools to censor political speech (while claiming to advocate for more/better mod tools) is the mirror image of abusing free speech while claiming to advocate for it. There's also a toxic spiral at work where the latter move justifies the former & vice versa

This is a great piece. As a parent who has recently introduced his oldest elementary-aged daughter to shooting, I don't know if I'd let her be photographed with a firearm or not. People be crazy.

I actually have to admit I've seen exactly one tweet offering the AOC dance vid as a negative, & all the rest are supportive. This may be like the time all these losers were supposedly burning their Nikes, except it was exactly one video of a burning shoe being RTed endlessly.

I'm old enough to remember when people said this about the Pentium Pro. Seriously, "the hardware is too fast nobody will ever upgrade" is most ancient take in all of tech punditry. I think they've found a version of it pictogrammed on a cave wall in France, even.

It's just like Dukakis in a tank, if Dukakis was young, attractive, relatable, and looked like he was truly having a blast and was way cooler than you. Otherwise it's basically the same, y'all.

There was one classic example where in order to hear the alleged dog whistle you'd have to know a really obscure point of southern history that barely even shows up in a single Wikipedia entry. I tried to google it but the results volume for "bouie dog whistle" is way too high.

They could actually create a really simple filter that would solve the majority of his bad take problem: refuse to run anything of his with the word "dog whistle" in it, because if you search for his name and "dog whistle" you will be amazed & overwhelmed at the results.

Bouie has some of the best takes, but also some of the very worst ones. If the NYT can help with quality control, he'll be a good hire. If not... well, he'll have plenty of company in those opinion pages.
