Catch 22 - people won't buy electric cars because of lack of charging infrastructure, companies won't build charging infrastructure because of lack of electric cars. If I had the money, I'd be building charging infrastructure as fast as I could - it's a golden goose.

The cost and payback for the investment is enormous and the national grid could not cope with such a demand surge.
