That kind of adversarial journalism exists in other countries but the difference is that Britain seems to rely massively on it - whereas in other countries it's one of many approaches.

Reminds me of a time I interviewed a former prisoner and he said it's really important not to show weakness in prison. I asked why. He said, "You don't want to be a fuck boy". 1/2

it's the same with adversarial journalism. People who come over like fuck boys on the Today program may be great in other types of interviews. It's a weirdly arbitrary way of judging someone's worth. (I says this as a definite fuck boy) 2/2

Very prevalent in US media as well, and I agree it’s dysfunctional. Hopkins has obviously expressed vile opinions, but she’s a product of a culture that encourages those extremes.

It’s the Argument To Moderation, the idea that the truth lies between two opposing viewpoints. If I say the sky is yellow and you say it’s blue, then the truth is that the sky is green. Problem is, the British media don’t realise it’s a fallacy.

She wasn’t a “journalist“ . Didn’t study it/ didn’t qualify for any Journo exam, or is being a journalist just holding a mic and being rude? Or is it like being a comedian.. you are one if someone laughs?
-
Agreed, she is essentially an outspoken member of the British fascist movement and should be regarded as such
