Excellent point, not to mention TV shows and movies are *collaborative endeavors*. There are a shitload of other people's words, camera setups, and performance choices you have a relationship with, not just one person's vision. Despite the argument of several showrunners, auteur theory, at least in television, is very hard to justify and when it is, often leaves a nightmare trail of damage behind it.

I have absolutely, positively failed other people during my career, and I would hate for you to stop loving characters ands stories other people put their heart and soul into because of one asshole, even if that asshole is me.
We could do a hundred tweet thread about everything I've ever done that people (sometimes inexplicably) love where I point out how that thing you love was the result of someone else's choice.
